- All my life, I've been driven to wanting to keep farming. You know, you get to this age, and you really start to wonder, what could you do? I'm Len Vonderhaar at Vonderhaar Farms here in Camden, Ohio. I farm today with my son and my grandson and granddaughter. The surgeries started back in 2016, could really tell I was not as able to get around. So, at that time, I had to really realize that I'm gonna need some help, some way, somehow. - His mobility was the biggest part. It was a question of, what does it look like? How long is he gonna be able to stand at one time, or sit at one time, or climb onto equipment? I mean, if you can't climb into a tractor cab, you're gonna become very limited. - If there was any kind of an edge at all that I could keep going, I certainly wanted to do it. - Ohio AgrAbility is a program that serves farmers with disabilities. When we first met Len, we wanted to help him achieve his goal to get into that combine. So after a quick farm visit, we determined that a platform lift was gonna be the best solution for him. - I can't say enough for Ohio state, the way they have reached out, and these programs, they're tremendous, to think that they would really want to go out and help. - It's a really inspiring thing. It's a notable thing, to see an impact like this. People being helped out here in places you might not expect Ohio State to be. - We keep farmers farming, because that's where we want them to be, doing their livelihood and enjoying their job. - I just love it. Absolutely just love doing what I'm doing, and to be able to do it is the big, big thing. I want to keep doing it for years yet, so I'm not done.
