- My name is Maggie Griffin, and I graduated from Ohio State in 2017 with a degree in social work. What's great about being a social worker is that you can kind of see connections between things. So, Ohio State was great for that because I learned about this social justice issue in my class, but then I could actually connect it to Columbus, connect it to Waterman Farm, and kind of figure out, you know, how to bring people together in order to look at this larger issue that's happening in Columbus. The College of Social Work has been incredible. They've supported me through all of this, and that's how I met my advisor, Michelle Kaiser. She helped me build this whole project and helped me come up with the grant when I was writing it, and helped me through every step of the way, and I wouldn't be here if it weren't for her. Starting out with, you know, this grant and a dream and then seeing the first person be able to take that bag of produce home and knowing that through this program, we're able to make an impact, is incredibly emotional, and I don't think I could've done it without all of the support that I have received. You know, I didn't know that I was capable of doing anything like this, but Ohio State shows you your potential and helps you get there to achieve your dreams. And I was lucky enough to find my passion, but then Ohio State was there to support me.
